45 Organization & Content
- Follows Monroe’s Motivated Sequence
- Attention step gets audience’s attention on topic
- Need step includes clear statement of need and at least one detail to support
- Satisfaction step includes 3+ items that are previewed and well-developed
- Conclusion refers back to attention-getter
15 Visual Aid
- Size is appropriate for audience and space
- No technical difficulties
- Concepts in speech are shown visually in a manner that adds to (but does not distract from) presentation
- Printed words are appropriately sized and not distracting from the speaker’s words
- VA is used at the right time(s), not distracting from the message
20 Audience and Purpose
- Presenter uses appropriate presentation style and professionalism for given audience and purpose
- All aspects of the speech lend themselves to accomplishing the purpose (inform, entertain, persuade)
- Presenter shows consideration of appropriate content and comprehension level for audience
