The purpose of the Grad Project unit is for each student to demonstrate deep understanding of a career of interest by completing an excellent graduation project. Successful completion of the district’s graduation project is a state, district, and course requirement. The unit has the following parts.
- Setting up and completing a career shadow, including required paperwork to document school absence and document shadow legitimacy, and including interviewing shadow mentor about the career.
- Gathering the following items into a portfolio.
- Post-observation overview
- Career research overview
- Career shadow interview
- Thank you letter
- Creating a multimedia PowerPoint visual aid, including an embedded digital story (iMovie) that tells an engaging narrative.
- Successful presentation of interests, shadow experiences, research, and future plans, illustrated by the multimedia PowerPoint visual aid.
