I chose this license because my work on this blog is educational in nature, and I am comfortable with others using it for enjoyment or education as long as they are not profiting from it. Further, I wished to allow no modifications, because I’d like to share my work, but I would not appreciate derivative versions of my work being created. This is important to me as an educator because my work speaks to my values, and by allowing modifications my work could be used out of intended context.
It made sense to me to choose the United States as the jurisdiction for the license, as my learnings and writings apply most relevelantly to the atmosphere of technology and education in the United States.
I would recommend this license to students, as well, because the creative commons license opens up their work for other scholars’ use. Just as importantly, this license allows students to maintain the integrity of their works in whole. When applied to digital stories, online-published works, or podcasts, in particular, this license provides permission with protection for the students’ intended messages.
